Oghogho Igodan

Born in Nigeria and raised in South Africa, Oghogho Igodan is a public health professional passionate about maternal, newborn, and child health, family planning, and health equity. She received a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with minors in French and Women’s Studies from Ohio State University. She currently works as a Humanitarian Advisor at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she manages projects focused on strengthening the capacity of humanitarian leaders and local and national NGOs.

Oghogho has eight years of experience working in the global health and international development sector. Her professional experience includes working as a Program Management Consultant for the Maternal and Child Health Team at USAID/Democratic Republic of Congo, Program Analyst for USAID’s President’s Malaria Initiative, Newborn Consultant at the Manoff Group, Maternal and Newborn Health Intern at Population Council, Research Assistant for DC Family Planning Initiative, Global Health Program Assistant at World Vision, International Operations Intern at International Medical Corps, and Capacity Building and Research Intern at Georgetown University’s Institute for Reproductive Health.

Outside of work, Oghogho is passionate about giving back and has volunteered with several organizations focused on maternal and child health, health equity, adolescent health, and child marriage. She is a trained birth, postpartum, and full-spectrum doula and provides postpartum doula support to women of color in the DC metro area. Oghogho has volunteered with UNICEF, Too Young to Wed, Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care, YoungLives DC, and the African Cultural and Resource Center. She is the recipient of the 2018 Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs Go Beyond Maternal and Child Health Graduate Student Scholarship and is a 2022 Johnson & Johnson One Young World Scholar. Oghogho’s long-term career goal is to become a Senior Maternal Health Advisor at a U.S. federal government agency or a private foundation.
